A Surprise Visit

A Surprise Visit

Last week, I ended a very uneventful week in a very eventful fashion!  A last minute visit from my Mom, Rose, and her 2 girlfriends; Bria and Lulu!  They came down Friday, and met upwith Justine and I in Mountain View for a John Mayer concert!  Girls Night Out!  We had entirely waaaay too much food at Fiesta Del Mar (a delicious restaurant btw), piled into my car and had an easy time parking.   Somehow, we managed to walk the wrong way (only by about 20 feet) and had to climb under a rope back into the parking lot, and though I thought I managed fairly well, the observers must have seen a different scene.  As I comically tried to climb under a rope back onto the parking lot, one of the Shoreline staff acknowledged that I was pregnant and offered to give me a ride to the venue on his handy dandy golf cart!  I QUICKLY accepted, though warned him that I came with 7 other girls!  We all piled in giggled the whole way in!  I have been to a million concerts and a good handful of them at the Shoreline Amphitheater, and NEVER, not once have I been given a ride in from the lot and avoided all the crowds!  Wooo Hoooo for the baby belly!  Justine and I had talked on the way to the show about our weariness of being prego at the show, no wine, swollen feet, tired, no wine, yadda yadda…and as it turns out, being prego at the Shoreline is actually a bonus.  Just 10 minutes after making our way to the lawn and getting comfy, we ended up scoring 2 free bags of cotton candy from a vendor!  We decided 1 was plenty and dove in…then the teenage girls came back…..should have taken the 2 bags!  :)   The rest of the night followed suit.  We had so much fun and the music was really good.  The guy is a jerk-off and is no longer the sexy beast he once was, but he is an amazing musician and has a voice that melts you!  Leaving the venue wasn’t as bad as we expected and we made it home with out issue!

The rest of the weekend followed suit.  We woke up to fog (at 1030 or 11), but braved the beach anyway!  It was cold when we got there, but beautiful none the less.  By the time we were done with lunch and Noah had a little rest in my arms, the wind died, the waves were perfect and it turned out to be an awesome beach day.  The best part…while boogie boarding, on her 3rd wave, Rose lost her bikini bottoms!  LMAO!  Following in my footsteps!  HAHA!  I got the whole thing on video, and seriously cry every time I watch it.  For Rose’s sake, I wont put it online (your welcome!).  I was laughing so hard, but at the same time, I could see the ocean tossing her around, and I was scared the undertow was going to suck her right back out to sea.  So, between my laughing, I am shouting, “Rose, stand up!” Watching the video back, I just sound like a big mean sister telling her to stand up with out her drawers on!  For the record, that was not my intention!  Anyway, after we put Rose back together, we watched a pod of dolphins go by, as well as some sea lions, Rose and my Mom boogie boarded for a while and then Noah “surfed” on the shore :)   We ended the night with pizza down town and a movie at home.

We ended their visit in true Santa Cruz fashion; dinner on the wharf and a night at the Boardwalk!  Mom and I hit up a great yarn store first while the girls walked around downtown, and then closed down the Boardwalk!  We didn’t get home until 11!  Noah went on a handful of rides, and loved them.  All except the dinosaur train, he hid his face the whole time  and had a death grip around my neck!  Poor guy!  Seriously though, watching him on the rides is more fun and rewarding than riding them myself!  Of course, the girls went on EVERYTHING, and despite the spinning stomachs, still managed to chow down 3 funnel cakes before we left.  Ahh to be 14 again!  :)

I was sad to see them all go Monday morning, but come 3 pm, I realized just how tired I was.  I dont think I got off the couch until I made my way to bed!  :)   I love visits from my family and having them here always makes me wish we all lived closer together.  Our visits are frequent, but they are never long enough.  I think it’s high time for you all to just move down her already!    Thanks for the last minute visit ladies, I couldn’t have had a better weekend!

enjoy the pics and be sure to watch the videos of Noah showing off his new dance moves and air guitar at the end!

About Mommy Krystal

I am a very lucky mama and get to stay home with my adorable 2 year old son. He keeps me on my toes (and awake all night long), makes me laugh out loud and scream quietly under my breath. My husband is amazing and the best daddy I could ever imagine. We started our journey together 7 years ago, but in the last 3 years have gotten married, had a baby, bought a house, and are expecting our second little monkey in late December. We have made a ton of changes and though it is not always easy, it has been the most rewarding life change I have made. We tend to be a but impulsive, but don't have a single regret! I am grateful for the life that I have (despite all the bitching I manage to do!). I wouldn't have it any other way!
